One can think of the Seven Factors of Enlightenment as a list of necessary but not sufficient conditions. Like Krishnamurti’s quote “Enlightenment is an accident, but some activities make you accident-prone.” By developing the seven factors of Enlightenment you can make yourself “accident-prone”.
